Can science fully explain the complexity of life?
While it is inevitable that a newspaper reporter will be influenced by their own political and social positions, I believe we're seeing an escalation in the biases of personal expression spinning the news rather than an objective presentation of the facts.
The editorials, and editorial selection of views by both guest columnists and letter writers fall under the same veil of personal prejudices held by the the staff.
Occasionally I too will call into a talk radio show, regardless of their political leaning, just to give and get an open exchange of ideas. While the host of any given show can espouse and encourage their preferences the audience generally controls an open forum.
I miss objective reporting along with objective editorial analysis. I'm afraid their both long gone.
Don't you see the contradiction here?
I agree that newspapers should provide objective reporting. I do not agree that being an open forum for thought and discussion fills that bill.
Most newspapers are doing a very good job of providing objective reporting. If the news that is being reported conflicts with your opinions, perhaps you need to re-examine whether your opinions are the correct ones.
Political talk radio as it is currently constituted in America is an abuse of the public trust and provides no positive contribution to our society. The sooner it vanishes from the public airwaves, the better.

I say - It appears objective to you because you agree the liberal slant to the reporting. Maybe you should re-examine your opinions.

I say - Talk radio and the internet are the only media sources to keep the inside Washington types and Liberal elites (like you) from forcing socialism down our throats. We need them now, more than ever.
